Communication Honor Society Collects Items for Operation Christmas Child

CANYON, Texas—Members of West Texas A&M’s communication honor society, Lambda Pi Eta, are collecting items for the international organization, Operation Christmas Child, as its community service project for the semester.

The organization’s president, Chaney Cozart, a senior corporate communication major, has a goal to gather enough items to fill 20 boxes this year to send to children around the world.

“Operation Christmas Child has always been one of my favorite projects to be a part of,” Cozart, said. “All of the officers and members are excited to spend a night in service for something greater than ourselves.”

Lambda Pi Eta members will be collecting items such as school supplies, inflatable soccer balls, hygiene items—bar soap, toothbrushes, face cloths—and small flashlights with extra batteries. Donations may also be made in the form of a $9 contribution to help cover the shipping cost for one box.

Lambda Pi Eta has placed donation boxes in the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex or donations may be taken directly to Dr. Trudy Hanson in Room 194. Items will be collected through Nov. 9. For more information contact Hanson at thanson@wtamu.edu or 806-651-2800.
